music FAQ for music.htm

Why are there only 12 songs on each album?

That's all that will fit next to the album picture on the music page.  Also, there didn't happen to be any more songs I wanted to put on them.  As a side note, Jobian society operates on a base-12 system, so that might have something to do with it as well.

Where's [random song title] (i.e. spin, cookie cutter), I totally dig that song and it's not here!

I'm working on a third album for the neglected children of my songbook, songs that I don't like as much as the others for various reasons.  It will be called spite your face and should be up before too long.

The kana in the japanese alphabet song are not in order!  Why not?

I opted to mix them up a little to break the monotony.

So are these 30-second clips or do I have to delete them or what?

Nope.  The whole album is free and right there for you to download and use however you please, provided you don't do anything that results in making money.  If I don't, you shouldn't.

How do I download songs?

If you click on the speaker icons, they might play in your browser.  If you right-click the speaker icon and select 'save target as,' you can put it on your desktop or in a folder of your choosing and play it from there.

What does the little 'i' mean?

You can click there for background information about a song.  It could contain things like: the meaning of the song, how it came to be, what some of the tricky words mean, and slanderous comments about your naughty family members.

Why do all the songs sound the same?

They were all tracked with the same two instruments, my Danelectro acoustic-electric guitar and what's left of my voice.  Also, shut up.

Why does your guitar sound like a ukulele?

I assure you my guitar is not a ukulele.  It's only half as thick as a regular acoustic guitar, plus I often play with a capo, both things that tend to suck the bass right out of a song.

Dude, your songs totally suck.  Seriously, what were you thinking?

"Bite my shiny metal ass."

Are there any CDs available for purchase?

For 10 bucks (that includes S&H) I will burn you a CD with its own autographed jacket.

These songs are really simple.  Probably my 8-year-old sister could play them.

You can take pretty much any song and reduce it to easy chords and vocals.  The concept for this album is simplicity, just breaking music into its basic elements to see what it sounds like.  I included the chord diagrams for all the songs so that anybody who wants to can play them, even your 8-year-old sister.

What's the deal with the capo?  You use it on like every song.

It has to do with my voice.  I like singing in certain keys better than others, so as a result I end up writing a lot of songs with a capo on the third fret.  If you don't have one, here's a conversion chart so you can still play all the songs.

What can I do to help?

If you find a song you like, play it for people and send them the link.

I remember you putting up some of these songs a very long time ago.  And the cover art has been there forever.  What is new about this CD?

All the songs that were up before were of very poor quality.  Most of them only came through one speaker or were at 1/10 normal volume.  The new ones are all of much higher quality and have been re-tracked from scratch.

Will you play at my bar/club/birthday party?

Maybe.  Email is jbaugher@rocketmail.com.  I don't usually do Friday and Saturday nights, but we might be able to work something out.  Also, you must live relatively close to Pittsburgh.

The color scheme for this page hurts my eyes.  Can you fix it?

What can I do?  I'm just one person.

How long have you been playing guitar?

Since I was 16 and I saw my sweetheart, my blue mexican Stratocaster.  That was 5 years ago.  To be fair, I don't play as often as I'd like to so sometimes I'm a little out of practice.

Do you have any other FAQ pages on this site?
